Welcome to your weekend agony-column for confused (post)grad students--Dear Labby! Apparently, February is the luuuuuuuurve month, even lab rats like us aren't spared by the cheeky arrows of Cupid. But maintaining that frothy state is dependent on the delta-H (or "work") needed by the system.
Dear Labby,
I am PhD student currently writing my PhD thesis. Problem is, my boyfriend is doing the same and he's stressing me out! Asking for support, talking about problems and wanting time alone?!? What do I do? Ain't nobody got time for that!

Seriously, PPS? If nobody ain't got time for that, then why are you hooked up with him in the first place? L'amour isn't some perpetual-motion machine that violates the laws of thermodynamics by its very existence. In other words, honey--y'gotta work for it!
OK, so you're busy. Here's the thing, he's equally busy as well with his thesis writing. So you're complaining about how he's pestering you for moral support and some quality time. What is left unsaid (and makes me want to read between the lines, like the other readers of this section) is--what about you? Have you also been pestering him for some lovin' QT? Even princesses have to work on keeping their love alive because there is no such thing as a damsel-in-distress.
There are so many unknown items in this equation that giving full advice isn't quite possible. Well, I do have one, but not for you...it's for the guy.
To the Boyfriend-of-Princess-PhD-Student--
Please grow a spine, and if you've been working hard for both your studies and this princess-chick, dump the girl and get that PhD instead. It ain't worth the hissy-fits.
